JoomSuite and the team headed up by Sergey are already putting out some exciting new components for Joomla 1.51 Stable. They are way a head of the pack. The biggest problem is you need support for components when you are running a commercial website. I can't afford the time to look through pages for forum posts for bug fixes and solutions. With a company like JoomSuite you get the support you need and quickly. JoomSuite Member is the best solution for a subscription site; Joomsuite Member is Joomla 1.5 native and does not require legacy mode turned on. It is totally integrated into Joomla and does not require additional editing of design. It renders output with all core Joomla style classes.If you do find a opensource component that suites your commercial sites needs you will likely have to pay to access a site to download the component. You may even pay a great deal more for only a few months of access. From what I have read and the products I have used from JoomSuite, Sergey Romanov is a genius and the team that runs the company are the coders to keep an eye on in 2008! I haven't seen much you can't do with a Joomla 1.51 site right now using Sergey's components. The 'JoomContent' component is so powerful it is mind boggling what it can do. I don't suggest tackling these components if you are just starting out with your first Joomla site. Baratta Design will be offering installation and training for these components in the coming months once I have a better understand and some usage logged. A few weeks ago I would have recommended waiting a while before getting into Joomla 1.51 Stable but my opinion of the new Joomla has changed due to all the new 1.5 components that have been coming out daily. |
